Editorial and AI-use policy

We write from public primary sources, we use AI to help draft and always check facts against the source cited, and we fix mistakes in the open. This page is the standard we hold ourselves to.

  • Last reviewed

Sourcing standard

Every factual claim on a tool page is backed by a primary source: the vendor's own documentation, pricing or product page, the project's repository, or an official standards body. We record the source link and the date we opened it next to the fact. We do not use aggregators, review sites, encyclopedias or social profiles as sources. If a fact cannot be verified, we leave it out and the page says it is not documented in the sources we checked. The details, including the minimum facts needed to list a tool, are on the methodology page.

Facts and our words

Taglines, descriptions and "best for" lines are our words. They must not state a fact that is missing from the sourced facts on the same page. The mapping of tools to the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications and MITRE ATLAS is our analysis, is tied to a documented capability, and is labeled as such.

Fairness

  • Comparisons are published only when both tools have verified facts, and they state where each side is stronger.
  • Archived or deprecated products are labeled and are never a top pick in a guide.
  • Acquisitions and renames are stated only with a source, in neutral words.
  • We describe what a vendor says its product supports, never that it "makes you compliant". Governance content carries a not-legal-advice note.
  • Vendor and product names are used to identify products. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the vendors we list unless a listing says so.

How we use AI

Drafted with AI assistance; facts checked against primary sources. We use AI tools to draft text, summarize sources and help structure pages. A statement of fact is published only after it has been checked against the primary source named beside it, and the editorial team is responsible for what appears on the site. Guides and comparisons repeat this note with the date the facts were checked. We do not use AI to invent quotes, sources, scores, users or testimonials, and we do not publish AI-generated text about a product that we have not tied to a source.

The illustrations on this site are original and AI-generated. They are decorative and show no real products, logos or people.

Update cadence

We re-verify every listing at least every 90 days, and sooner when we learn of a change such as a rename, an acquisition, a license change or a retirement. The "Last reviewed" date on a page changes only when we make a real edit. Each fact keeps its own check date.

Corrections

If something is wrong, tell us on the corrections page or write to [email protected] , and include the page, the fact and a primary source for the right value. We confirm the correction at the source, fix the page, update its dates, and list material corrections in the public log. Vendors can ask for corrections too. A vendor cannot pay to change a fact, a score or a verdict.

Independence

Money never decides what we write. Affiliate links, sponsored listings and ads are labeled, and they cannot change a Coverage Score, a ranking order, a pick or a verdict. See the disclosure page for what is live and the rules for each.

What we do not publish

  • Star-style scores, user counts, testimonials, or claims about who uses a tool.
  • Vendor logos or product screenshots.
  • Our own measurements of how well a tool performs. We do not run the tools, and the Coverage Score says so wherever it appears.
  • Prices that are not stated on the vendor's own pricing page.
